Hand Shadow Puppets

The most important symbol in Vocueism. Make the room dark, and shine a light against the wall. Put your hands in front of the light and across each other, palms facing you, thumbs next to each other. This is the shadow puppet of a bird. Look at the bird on the wall that exists because of your hands. That bird is as real as it is fake. That bird is as much a part of you as it is separate. You created something and yet you created nothing. Shadow Puppets are a wonderful symbol of the simultaneous existence and nonexistence of things, and the power we hold. We are everything, we are nothing - and that bird is just like you.

Microorganisms and plants

We rely on the human experience. It’s all we know, all we listen to, all we accept. There’s more ways to experience existence than people are willing to admit. There is as much joy in the life of something like a microorganism or plant as there is in the life of a human being. We are equal. We are everything.
